Haddington and Dalkeith made their league debuts as senior clubs when they met in Conference B at Millfield last night. They had met at Millfield in a League Cup tie ten days ago with the Kings Park club running out deserved winners.  The Hi Hi’s were missing a few players but they produced a performance not short on skill or effort. Dalkeith twice took the lead in an entertaining first half but there was a hint of controversy with both goals. They were awarded a generous penalty in the 4th minute and then danger man Tansey looked offside when he scored the second. In between these goals, Scott Moffat produced a good finish after good play by Jordan Cropley. Then Andy Jones produced the second equaliser after some good build play. The home side suffered another blow nine minutes into the second half when Ali Simpson received a straight red after impeding Tansey on the edge of the box. Then player/manager Joe Hamill had to leave the park with a groin strain. But the Hi Hi’s stuck to their task and goalkeeper Craig Cockburn kept the scores level with a couple of good saves. Conditions worsened in latter stages but Haddington made a final push for victory and Ross King scored a third with a composed finish. Then Moffat sealed the victory with a neat finish after Jones did the spadework.
