The Hi Hi’s bounced back from a 4 3 defeat by Dundonald Bluebell, to win in the Prelimininary Round of the League Cup at Blackburn last Saturday. With Pinkie Tufail joining both Joe Hamill and Declan Quinn on the injured list, resources were stretched with Leslie, Brown and Hainey also unavailable. Three of the under 20 squad were listed as substitutes and Haddington finished the match with all three on the pitch. Chris Cairney made his first appearance of the season but two bookings in the first 40 minutes ended his participation. The Hi Hi’s had started well with Cunningham and Cropley missing chances but they made the breakthrough in the 29th minute with a neat headed finish from Cropley after Jones provided the opening. the visitors doubled their lead in the 56th minute when Ali Simpson scored his first goal for the club when he connected with a corner from Devlin. All in all a good solid performance from the Hi Hi’s and manager Hamill will be hoping to have a few more players available for Saturdays derby at Tranent.
