The Hi Hi’s have had a pretty productive last couple of weeks despite still being hampered by injuries. Two victories in the Alex Jack Cup have seen them reach their first East of Scotland League semi final. Edinburgh United were beaten 4 – 3 at Millfield on Saturday 22nd September. The following Wednesday they met Hill O’ Beath in Fife in the quarter final. The home side were firm favourites but Haddington turned in an excellent performance and triumphed 3 – 2. Next up was a Conference B match at Saughton Enclosure against Lothian Thistle HV on Saturday 29th September. Although the Hi Hi’s never reached the heights of the previous game, they scored the only goal of the game and took all three points. Another midweek trip followed, this time to Sauchie in a Conference B match. The Hi Hi’s found themselves two behind early on but were back on level terms midway through the second half but lost out when Sauchie scored a third. A depleted squad made another away trip to unbeaten Bo’ness United for a Conference B match last Saturday. Despite losing an early goal, Haddington fought back to lead 2 – 1. The home side equalised before the break and despite almost constant home pressure in the second half, the visitors held firm and deprived Bo’ness of their first points of the season.
